About the Mecom Brand
The Mecom Group (Mecom) is an Eastern Slovakian meat processing company that, drawing on its traditions and quality, offers a wide selection of meat products, including sausages, salamis, hams, and products suitable for grilling. Our group has proudly marketed Mecom products in Hungary since 2013, and we were among the first to introduce them to the market.
History and Development
The first meat processing plant started in Humenne in 1972 at the foot of the Vihorlat mountain range, which still remains the company's key manufacturing base
In 1995, Mecom a.s. was officially established as a company, followed by extensive modernisation and development programs
In 2003, the Humenne plant received the SK-63 license, allowing EU sales
The period between 2008–2012 involved brand consolidation, where several previously separate brands merged under Mecom
In 2013, the company entered the grilled product category and launched its popular marketing campaign, "Mecom Express Grill Party"
In 2021, Mecom became part of the Smithfield Foods global meat industry group, one of the world's leading vertically integrated meat processing companies
Manufacturing Sites and Quality
The Mecom group operates factories in three countries:
In Slovakia: Humenne and Lučenec;
In Hungary: Szolnok and Békéscsaba;
Furthermore, in the Czech Republic, it is present with its Schneider brand, headquartered in Prague
All production sites have the IFS (International Food Standard) certification; additionally, several locations, such as Humenne and the Hungarian factories, also feature BRCGS certification ensuring high food safety and quality.
